This course will present and discuss the functions of the management of projects in the nuclear industry. The participants will utilize the national construction management standards utilized in the United States of America, supplemented by the nuclear quality assurance standards promulgated by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and employed by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Department of
Energy. The course is comprised of lectures, discussion and case studies to impart both the knowledge and application of best practices.

The course is sequenced according to the life cycle of a project in phases as defined in national standards:
• Planning and pre-design
• Design
• Procurement
• Construction
• Post-construction (commissioning)
• Operations and maintenance (sustainment) external to national construction management standards
