Near the church property on Kizhi Island is a traditional Karelian two-story peasants' house. Twenty-two people lived there and farmed fields next to the house.

Corner where the head of the house slept.

Further down the road is a small church that dates from the 1300's. That's before Columbus landed in America! It wasn't hard to see why Kizhi is such a source of pride for the Russian people. Shay and Angelina went shopping in the afternoon and Candy went back to the clinic for a check-up.

Before Shay and Angelina could purchase souvenirs for their friends and relatives, they had to change their American money into rubles. At the time, the exchange rate was twenty eight rubles per dollar. Shay bought a beautiful scarf for her mother, which was sixty rubles. Angelina purchased a handcrafted matrishka doll for a friend, which cost three hundred rubles.
