The Biosafety Program aims to help workers safely manage
biological agents or substances present in or arising from the work environment that present or may present a hazard to the health or well-being of the worker or the community. Biological agents and substances of concern may include infectious and parasitic agents, noninfectious microorganisms, such as some fungi, yeast, algae, plants and plant products, and animals and animal products that cause occupational disease.

Shipping Biological Materials Certification
This certification is required for shippers of biological material(s) from NC State University in compliance with the U.S. Department of Transportation and the International Air Transporters Association.
Guidance Document For Shipping Biological Material
This manual is to aid in the shipment of biological materials from NC State University. This manual does not include agricultural and foreign customs restrictions.
Working at Animal Biosafety Levels 1, 2 and 3
The following videos describe the procedures animal handlers should follow when working at animal biosafety level 1, 2 or 3. Each video provides guidance on a wide range of topics including donning and doffing personal protective equipment, decontamination of work areas, handing of animals, working with sharps, and transporting animals.
