ACADEMIC PROGRAM
The North Carolina State University program in Ghana allows students the opportunity to enroll directly at the University of Ghana for a semester or an academic year. Students are enrolled in University of Ghana coursework, live in dormitories with Ghanaian students, and participate fully in Ghanaian University life.
The NC State Resident Director (a faculty member at the University of Ghana), working closely with the University of Ghana's Office for International Programs, provides on-site orientation, assists students with registration and other administrative details, organizes selected field trips, and serves as an on-going source of support, information, and assistance to students throughout the semester.

THE UNIVERSITIES
Participants in this exchange have the option of studying at one of three English-speaking institutions, or to combine one semester each at two of them:
A. UNIVERSITY OF GHANA
The University of Ghana was founded as the University College of the Gold Coast, an affiliate of the University of London. It became an independent, degree granting institution in 1961 and with a current student population of about 8,000, the University of Ghana is the oldest and largest university in Ghana. The University has faculties of agriculture, arts, law, medicine, science, social studies, and business administration, as well as an Institute of African Study and the School of Performing Arts.

The University enrolls 5,000 students in fields including engineering, architecture, art and design. Coursework is also available in the social sciences and African Studies.
