Community International Information

The international strategic plan for the 16 universities within the UNC system affirms that international education, like other forms of learning, is a lifelong process that takes place outside the University as well as within, and that the University has a special obligation to make its expertise available to state agencies, public schools and diverse segments of the North Carolina public in promoting greater understanding of global issues and events.

We invite the public to share in the international News & Events at NC State, and share below links of community local and state organizations with international connections.

Exploris -is an interactive museum about the world. Discover connections with our global neighbors through exhibits on culture, the environment, global trade and communications. Through its exhibit halls, the IMAX(r) Theatre, and Exploris Middle School, Exploris endeavors to bring the world to downtown Raleigh.

International Festival - The annual International Festival held in Raleigh at the NC State Fairgrounds, promotes an awareness and appreciation of the diverse cultures in this area.

International Visitors Council - The International Visitors Council/World Affairs Counciil brings people from all over the world face-to-face with citizens in our own community. Whether they are discussing economic development, local governance, biotechnology, or the Friday night hockey game, they are connecting on a human level. As heads of state come and go and political rhythms change, these relationships at the grassroots level can make all the difference to define the United States' – and North Carolina's – place in the world.

NCCIU - The North Carolina Center for International Understanding (NCCIU) is committed to helping North Carolinians live and work effectively with people of all cultures. Its unique blend of global education includes short-term immersion programs abroad, coupled with study and training in North Carolina. The Center works primarily with policy leaders and educators, providing them with the experiences and tools necessary to guide their communities and the State through changes associated with an increasingly interdependent world.

NC Department of Commerce - The Department of Commerce is the State of North Carolina's lead agency for economic, community and workforce development. Part of its mission is to increase economic opportunities for North Carolina in a global economy by ensuring that North Carolina is recognized throughout the world as a highly attractive location for growing businesses, for the high quality of its products, and for its appeal as a location for tourism, film and sports development.

NCWTA - The North Carolina World Trade Association (NCWTA) serves professionals involved in the trade of goods and services internationally. The organization also promotes the growth of international commerce between North Carolina and the world. Recognized as the "voice of international trade in North Carolina," NCWTA acts as a nerve-center for individuals, companies, and organizations that seek trade expansion for the state. NCWTA is composed of a state board, six regional chapters, and a collegiate council. Members include: manufacturers, exporters, importers, and service providers as well as academic and governmental leaders.

WTCNC - World Trace Center North Carolina advises and supports member companies throughout North Carolina in identifying, developing, and expanding international business opportunities. They help build connections and trade relationships with foreign partners and economic regions to drive global opportunities that create trade-related revenue and jobs for North Carolina. They promote North Carolina as an ideal point of access to the U.S. marketplace, and an unmatched place for conducting business.
