and a network of participating universities
that spans three continents, faculty
leading the Technology, Entrepreneurship
and Commercialization ( TEC )

CHASS
Celebrates New Major in International Studies
with Latin Flair
Now, more than ever, NC State students
are intimately connected to a world of
possibilities and challenges.
One of NC State's goals is to prepare
them to embrace opportunities to participate
in and understand international events.
CHASS has taken an important step to
assist the University in reaching this
goal with the launch of its new International
Studies major. The major seeks
to integrate theoretical knowledge about
global processes with in-depth examination
of particular regions of the world.
The curriculum is designed so that students
will learn to appreciate foreign cultures,
focus on themes of international interest,
and will gain exposure to varied disciplinary
approaches. The major includes a study-abroad
or internship component.
Students and faculty from all disciplines
are invited to help CHASS celebrate the
new major at an inaugural event on Thursday,
February 16, from 5-7 pm, in Caldwell
Lounge. A Latin DJ and Salsa dance
teachers will get the celebration underway. The
event will include internationally-oriented
games and a Mexican Buffet. Come
out and support NC State's most recent
internationalization initiative.
