SUMMARY OF FINDINGS

North Carolina State University is in essential compliance with the
Criteria for Accreditation of the Commission on Colleges of the
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1992-93 edition). North
Carolina State University has a clear and appropriate Mission Statement; a
strong faculty and student body; appropriate degree programs, and research and
outreach activities; and facilities appropriate to the institutional
mission.
North Carolina State University has the potential to become a preeminent,
research-intensive university in the land-grant tradition. Five action
initiatives will enhance institutional effectiveness:
- Develop a well-defined, shared vision for the future.
- Renew commitment to serving the people of North
Carolina.
- Address issues of racial and gender diversity.
- Provide an excellent infrastructure to support teaching,
research, and extension and outreach activities.
- Achieve an appropriate balance among programs and
activities.
Action on these initiatives will move the North Carolina State University
closer to its goal of becoming a model university for the twenty-first
century.
