CONCLUSION
NCSU has a distinctive mix of outstanding faculty and academic programs, an
able student body at both undergraduate and graduate levels, close ties to the
people of the state, and a strong service mission. This combination
provides a strong foundation for innovative activity that will enable the
University to address emerging issues and to provide national leadership for
higher education in the new century. New initiatives for excellence will move
the University closer to its goal of preeminence as a research-intensive
university in the land-grant tradition.
