Although the Women's Center celebrates women 365 days a year, we will be celebrating Herstory March 16 through March 23. The events for the week are:
LUCINDA'S STORY -- Friday, March 16, 1:00 PM, Talley Student Center Ballroom. From homeless to the CEO of a multi-million dollar business, Lucinda's story of overcoming her circumstances is both remarkable and inspiring. FREE admission.
BREAST CASTING WORKSHOP -- Saturday, March 17, 12:00 - 5:00 PM, 2nd floor of Honors Commons Bldg. A 3-dimensional work of art done as a creative outlet to celebrate the female form and promote breast health awareness. There is a $20 fee for this workshop. Register by contacting the Women's Center at 515-2012, 3120 Talley Student Center, or at womenscenter@ncsu.edu. Open to woman-identified individuals only. Volunteers also needed for this event!
KILLING US SOFTLY 3 -- Monday, March 19, 6:00 - 7:30 PM, Walnut Room (4th floor) Talley Student Center. Video and discussion on the link of media images to gender inequality and violence. Free Food.
LET'S KNIT -- Tuesday, March 20, 5:30 PM, Room 3121 Talley Student Center. Bring a pair of knitting needles, we'll supply yarn and the instructor. Beginners and advanced knitters welcome!
LEADERSHIP TOOLS FOR WOMEN -- Tuesday, March 20, 6:30 - 9:30 PM, Walnut Room (4th floor) Talley Student Center. Presented by the Center for Student Leadership, Ethics, and Public Service, this workshop (LDS 051) gives women tools they need to be effective leaders.
SAFESKILLS SELF-DEFENSE WORKSHOP -- Tuesday, March 20, 5:30 - 8:30 PM. This workshop is geared toward the GLBT community. Normally a $55 workshop, this workshop is FREE but requires registration. Register by calling the Women's Center at 515-2012.
CONNECTING WOMEN ACROSS CAMPUS: BUILDING COMMUNITY AT NCSU -- Wednesday, March 21, 12 - 1 PM, Walnut Room (4th floor) Talley Student Center. Eating lunch at your desk...AGAIN? Bring your lunch and meet women from across campus to discuss ways to build community among all women staff, faculty, and students across campus. Co-sponsored with the Association of Women Faculty, the Council on the Status of Women, and the Office of Diversity and African-American Affairs.
BEAUTY: INSIDE AND OUT -- Thursday, March 22, 6:00 - 8:30 PM, Talley Student Center Ballroom. This is an evening to relax and be pampered. Admission is free, but limited to the first 250 women. Co-sponsored with Delta Zeta and Zeta Tau Alpha Sororities.
BREAST CAST DECORATING -- Friday, March 23, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Room 3121 Talley Student Center. Come anytime between 10:00 and 5:00 to decorate the breast cast you made at the workshop!
