son of Joel and Glenda Moore, Washington, NC. Jock
will graduate from Washington High School where he
is student body president, co-captain of the wrestling
team, and co-captain of the football team. He also
participates in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes,
is a member of the Key Club, and is in his fourth
lettering year on the baseball team. He plans to major
in an engineering field.

Evan Edward Carroll, son of Eddie
and Dean Carroll, Shallotte, NC. Evan will graduate
from West Brunswick High School where he is president
of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, treasurer of the
Science Olympiad team, and the student liaison to
the Brunswick County Board of Education. He also attends
First Baptist Church of Shallotte, is a member of
the band, and is an Eagle Scout. He plans to major
in chemistry.

Jeremy
Joseph Diner, son of Jeannine and Geoff Diner, Asheville,
North Carolina. Jeremy will graduate from North Buncombe
High School where he is vice president of the Humanities
Club, a member of the math team, and a future member
of the Hardcore Ultimate Frisbee Team. He also loves
babies and the elderly. His major is undecided.
Sarah
Nayoung Kim, daughter of Eung Young Kim and Sung Kyun
Kim, Candler, North Carolina. Sarah will graduate
from Enka High School where she is founder and president
of the Culture Club, president of Enka High Junior
Civitan, vice president of the National Honor Society,
and secretary. of the Ecology Club. She also is captain
of Enka's women’s cross country team and an
avid member as well as Sunday school teacher at Korean
Presbyterian Church of Asheville. She plans to major
in molecular biology and neurosciences.
Madeline Kern Brixen Ross, daughter
of Courtney and Jamie Ross, Asheville, North Carolina.
Madeline will graduate from Asheville High School
where she is a member of Outreach-Interact and co-editor
of Inasense, the literary magazine. She also is a
brown belt in kwanmukan karate and has assisted with
sunday school at St. Eugene's Catholic Church for
three years. She plans to major in civil engineering.

Andrew
Michael Davis, son of Andrew and Bridgette Davis,
Morganton, NC. Andrew will graduate from Freedom High
School where he is a co-captain of the swim team,
a member of the varsity Science Olympiad team, and
has been voted "Most Intelligent". He also
is the president of his local Red Cross Youth Group,
a member of his Red Cross Chapter's board of directors,
and a member of his local United Way's board of directors.
He plans to major in physics and chemistry.
Taylor
Louise Imboden, daughter of Michael and Joyce Imboden,
Morganton, North Carolina. Taylor will graduate from
Freedom High School where she is vice president of
the student body, German Club presdent, and has been
voted "Most Intelligent" by the senior class.
She also is president of her Youth Group at Calvary
Lutheran Church, a teen mentor and volunteer with
the PEAK program at Hilcrest Elementary, and a violinist
with the Suzuki School of the Arts, Hickory, NC. She
plans to major in political science and communications.

William
Lee Arrington III, son of Bill & Kae Arrington
and Fran Arrington, Beaufort, NC. Billy will graduate
from East Carteret High School where he is president
of the Speech & Debate Club and stars as the Wizard
in the upcoming school musical "The Wizard of
Oz." An accomplished speaker and winner of many
speaking trophies, he is also a volunteer counselor
at the Cape Lookout Environmental Education Center
on Cape Lookout, president of the Ann Street UMYF,
and an active participant in the MYF Misson trips.
He plans to major in political science.

Carl Giovannini, son of Joseph and Kathy Giovannini,
Hickory, North Carolina. David will graduate from
Hickory High School where he is president of Beta
Club, vice president of Latin National Honors Society,
and vice president of the senior class. He also is
captain of the varsity soccer team and volunteers
at his church's home mission days. He plans to major
in textile engineering.
Meghan Alexis Smith, daughter of Steve
and Alice Smith, Newton, North Carolina. Meghan will
graduate from East Gaston High School where she is
president of the Students Against Violence Everywhere
Club, vice president of the Interact Club and senior
class secretary. She also volunteers at the Cooperative
Christian Ministry, plays varsity soccer, and dances
on the national award-winning Easy Gaston Dance Team.
She plans to major in biochemistry.

Levon McBroom, son of Pruitt and Myron Jones, Goldston,
NC. Antonio will graduate from Chatham Central High
School where he is president of the senior class,
captain of the varsity basketball team, and the step-master,
president, and captain of the Step Team. He also was
a student tutor/mentor and intiated two organizations,
one premoting philanthropy and the other encouraging
personal growth and enlightenment. He plans to major
in mathematics education.
Casey Renee Perry, daughter of Chip
and Diane Perry, Siler City, North Carolina. Casey
will graduate from Jordan-Matthews High School where
she is president of Fellowship of Christian Athletes,
vice president of Future Business Leaders, and plays
basketball and volleyball. She plans to major in business
or pre-law.

Leah
Katherine Hawkins, daughter of Dr. William and Lori
Hawkins, New Bern, NC. Leah will graduate from the
North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics where
she is editor-in-chief of the school newspaper, co-captain
of the tennis team, and a student ambassador. She
is also a regional finalist in the Siemens-Westinghouse
Competition, a member of the NCSSM Hearing Board,
and a member of the First Presbyterian Youth Group
in New Bern. She plans to major in chemistry or physics.
Amy
Renee West, Daughter of Dennis and Rhonda West, Havelock,
NC. Amy will graduate from Havelock High School where
she is student council president, National Honor Society
member, and a member of Junior Civitans. She has also
been involved in Youth Leadership Havelock, is a member
of the Lady Rams varsity softball team, and statistician
for the Lady Rams varsity volleyball team. She plans
to major in biomedical engineering.

Pia Martina Chapman, daughter of Frank and Angela
Chapman, Fayetteville, North Carolina. Pia will graduate
from Douglas Byrd High School where she is battalion
commander of her JROTC unit, vice president of the
Nation Honor Society and has been voted "Most
Academic" out of the class of 2004. She also
plays varsity soccer and cross country and participates
in her local SHARE program. Pia plans to major in
criminology.
Thomas
Henry Finch, Son of Hank and Anna Finch, Fayetteville,
North Carolina. Thomas will graduate from The Fayetteville
Academy where he is an intern at his school's writing
center, senior class secretary and a member of the
Spanish Club. He also volunteered with the Autism
Society of Cumberland County over the summer, is president
of his church's youth group, and plays varsity basketball.
He plans to major in English.
Christina
Elizabeth Harris, daughter of Jeffrey and Dottie Harris,
Stedman, North Carolina. Christina will graduate from
Cape Fear High School where she is the drum major
of the Marching Colts, treasurer of the Key Club and
leader for Colts for Christ. She also serves as a
junior volunteer for the Cape Fear Valley Health System,
volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and active member
of her church youth group. She plans to major in medicine.

Candice Elaine Epps, daughter of William
Epps and Elaine Rice Epps, Thomasville, North Carolina.
Candice will graduate from Thomasville High School
where she is president of the student body, president
of Students Against Violence Everywhere and chief
junior marshal. She also has initiated a hunger walk,
began a "Stuff the Bus" Christmas campaign
and helped to initate a peer mentor program with young
girls at the local middle school. She plans to major
in biology.

Stephen
David Hoyle, son of David and Jan Hoyle of Chapel
Hill, NC, will graduate from Jordan High School where
he is encouraging student involvement in the Relay
for Life 2004. He is an Eagle Scout, swimmer, and
violinist. A National Honor Society member and winner
of the City of Medicine Scholar Award, as well as
winner of the Gold Congressional Medal Award, Stephen
is interested in a biomedical engineering major.
Ishani
Sud, daughter of Drs Ish and Anu Sud, Durham, North
Carolina. Ishani will graduate from The North Carolina
School of Science and Mathematics where she is a student
representative on the School Improvement Group, captain
and founder of the debate team, and teaches Indian
Dance seminar. She also is senior trispeaker of the
North Carolina Youth Legislative Assembly, is a volunteer
for Teen Court where she serves as a judge, and is
a choreographer and performer of classical and modern
Indian dance. She plans to major in biomedical engineering.

Ashley
Hilton Winfree, daughter of Glenn and Terri Winfree,
Winston-Salem, NC. Ashley will graduate from Salem
Academy. She attended Oxford University's Advanced
Studies Program, is president of the Explorers Architecture
Club, and an active member and officer in the National
Honor Society. She is also a black belt in tae kwon
do, a member of the Honor Cabinet, and a recipient
of the Citizenship Honor Award. Ashley plans to major
in architecture.

Lucy Elizabeth Perkins, daughter of
Scott and Joyce Perkins, Robbinsville, North Carolina.
Lucy will graduate from Robbinsville High School where
she is co-chairperson of the RHS Student Council,
captain of three varsity sports, and president of
the Chess Club. She also volunteers at her local health
center, has worked in an orphanage in Nanning, China,
and performs in civic events throughout her community
as a pianist. She plans to major in either biology
or architecture/engineering.

Andrew Hulbert, son of Bob Hulbert and Karen Crutchfield,
Snow Hill, North Carolina. Andrew will graduate from
Greene Central High School where he is president of
the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the co-editor
in chief of the "Rambler" - the school newspaper,
and the captain of the varsity tennis team. He also
volunteers with the Greene County Interfaith Volunteers,
serves as the webmaster for the Greene County Tennis
Association and the Eastern Plains Conference, and
is a member of Calvary Memorial United Methodist Church.
He plans to major in computer engineering and mathematics.
Lawrence Anderson Moye IV, son of
Lawrence Anderson Moye III and Mitzi Cherry Moye,
Maury, NC. "Larry" will graduate from Arendell
Parrott Academy where he is SGA president, AP scholar,
and National Merit Commended scholar. He also is a
four time Presidential Student Service Scholar, National
Point of Light, and all-conference captain of the
soccer team. He plans to major in business.

Jonathan
Page Brentnell, son of Mary Beth Page and Jim Brentnell,
Greensboro, North Carolina. Jonathan will graduate
from Ragsdale High School where he is president of
the National Honor Society, captain of the swim team
and a peer tutor. He is also an Eagle Scout in Troop
117 and president of his youth group at Hinshaw Memorial
United Methodist Church. He plans to major in biological
or chemical engineering.
Daniel
Michael Hager, son of Mike and Ann Hager, High Point,
North Carolina. Daniel will graduate from Wesleyan
Christian Academy where he is president of Student
Council, captain of the tennis team, and has been
voted "Most Intelligent." He also has volunteered
over 120 hours for the Operation Christmas Child shoebox
drive, and is co-director of his church youth group's
drama team. He plans to major in computer engineering.
Colleen
Gwynne Jeske, daughter of Jeff Jeske and Kathleen
Overman-Jeske, Greensboro, North Carolina. Colleen
will graduate from Western Guilford High School where
she is president of Math Club, treasurer of Junior
Civitans, and co-captain of the tennis team. She is
also a volunteer for Guilford County Teen Court, a
lector for church, and a tutor and mentor for Worker
Bees, a school service program. Colleen plans to major
in biomedical engineering.
Ross
Anthony Shingledecker, son of Ross and Mary Shingledecker,
Greensboro, NC. Ross will graduate from Grimsley High
School where he is president of the National Honor
Society, captain of the Science Olympiad Team and
liason to Guilford County Schools' Gay-Straight Alliance
Leaders Group. He also is a volunteer for the National
Conference for Community and Justice, a peer tutor,
and an active altar server for Our Lady of Grace Church.
He plans to major in textile chemistry or chemical
engineering.
Anna
Lewis Shope, daughter of Richard and Dianne Shope,Greensboro,
NC. Anna will graduate from Northwest Guilford High
School where she is a member of the National Honor
Society, Who's Who Among American High School Students,
and co-chair of the Northwest Education Team. She
also founded the Youth Enthusiastic for Seniors Program
at First Baptist Church, works for the Tackle Smoking
Reasearch Project through the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill and runs on the cross country
team at Northwest Guilford High School. She plans
to major in civil engineering.

Morgan Coats, daughter of Terry and Bebe Coats, Clayton,
North Carolina. Casey will graduate from Clayton High
School where she is president of the student body,
a member of the Executive Board in Club Twist and
a member of the National Honor Society. She is a member
of the gospel group, The Hallelujah Girls, a lady
of the Ensemble in Raleigh Little Theatre's production
"Cinderella XX," and the producer of "Wish
Upon A Star," a variety show that raised over
$10,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. She plans
to major in landscape architecture.
Laura Nichole Woolsey, daughter of
Tracy and Betty Jo Woolsey, Clayton, North Carolina.
Laura will graduate from West Johnston High Scool
where she is secretary of the Fellowship of Christian
Athletes and a National Honor Society Member. She
also volunteers at Pizazz, a branch of the Harbor
House domestic violence shelter, assists teaching
dance atAdagio School of Performing Arts, and will
serve as the photographer on a mission trip to Chile
with her church. Laura plans to major in child psychology.

Emily Morgan Rush, daughter of Drs.
Carl and Stacy Rush,Sanford, North Carlina. Morgan
will graduate from The North Carolina School of Science
and Mathematics in Durham where she is a residential
life assistant, captain of the varsity cheerleading
squad and is the creator and instructor of the seminar,
"Tap and Hip Hop; the History of Vernacular Dance".
She also founded "Rap-a-Tap-Tap,” a volunteer
organization teaching rhythm and tap dance to students
with disabilities in public schools. Morgan is currently
involved in embryonic stem cell research at the Abdominal
Transplant Laboratory at the University of the North
Carolina at Chapel Hill. She plans to major in Spanish
and biological sciences.

Adam
Wayne Beard, son of Patricia Beard and Jesse Leatherman,
Lincolnton, NC. Adam will graduate from West Lincoln
High School where he is president of the SADD club,
president of the Science Club, and has been voted
"Most Musical." He is also a member of the
marching band, an Eagle Scout in Troop 74, and attends
a "Youth on Missions" group at his church.
He plans to major in animal science following the
pre-veterinarian guidelines.
Anne Charlotte Lutin, daughter of
Pamela Howard Lutin, Lincolnton, NC. Annie will graduate
from Lincolnton High School where she is captain of
the High-Q team, a charter member of the Political
Science Club, and has been voted "Most Intellectual."
She has been a volunteer assistant teacher at the
Lincoln County Science and Technology Camp, has attended
Governor's School West in mathematics, and is a member
of the Boger City United Methodist Church Handbell
Choir. She plans to major in biology.

Robert
Lee Dean, son of Bob and Karen Dean, Charlotte, North
Carolina. Bobby will graduate from Providence High
School where he is a four-year Key Club member, a
Senior Board member, and a member of the Spanish Club.
He is also the Carolinas District Governor of Key
Club International, the world's largest student-led
service organization. Bobby plans to major in aerospace
engineering.
Jessica
Elyse Fisher, daughter of Wesley Carter, Huntersville,
NC. Jessica will graduate from North Mecklenburg High
School where she is student body president, Miss North
Mecklenburg, and a member of the Charlotte Mecklenburg
Schools Association of Student Councils. She also
is an active participant in many community service
projects, Spanish Club, and is a cheerleader. She
plans to major in biochemistry.
Emily
Therese Millette daughter of Ken and Melissa Millette,
Charlotte, North Carolina. Emily will graduate from
Myers Park High School where she is a representative
for IB student council, a member of National Art Honor
Society, and a member of the track team. She is also
involved in the youth group at St. John's Baptist
Church and has volunteered her time as a junior docent
at the Mint Museum of Art. She plans to major in graphic
design.
Katherine
Collett Furr Phillips, daughter of Susan Furr and
Ted Phillips, Charlotte, North Carolina. Kasey will
graduate from North Mecklenburg High School where
she is president of Mu Alpha Theta, a National Math
Honor Society, Colorguard captain, and co-president
of CAS Council, an IB Service organization. She has
coached a middle school Math Counts team for three
years, attended the North Carolina Governor's School
last summer, and is the three-time first place winner
of the North Carolina State Math Fair. Kasey plans
to double-major in mathematics and physics.

guitar with several worship bands. Scott has been
accepted to the College of Engineering.
Sarah Christine Brumbaugh, daughter
of Beverly and Steven Brumbaugh, Wilmington, North
Carolina. Sarah will graduate from John T. Hoggard
High School where she is president of Order of the
Viking, Evirothon, and Ocean Science Quiz Bowl. She
also is involved in 4-H, NJROTC, and church. She plans
to major in textile and biomedical engineering.

Swansboro, NC. Jonathan will graduate from Swansboro
High School where he is student government president,
captain of the cross country team, and Inner Club

Brian Shigekawa. Claire will graduate from Chapel
Hill High School where she is Art Club president,
co-captain of the tennis team, and head committee
member of the Rose Garden Forum tutoring program.
She also is a member of the National Honors Society,
Spanish Honors Society, and plays the piano. She plans
to major in civil engineering and later to pursue
advance studies in architecture.

H. Arastu, son of Hyder and Shamim Arastu, Greenville,
North Carolina. Nabeel will graduate from Junius H.
Rose High School where he is secretary of the senior
class, the secretary of Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor
Society, and has won superior and distinguished delegate
awards in Model UN. Nabeel also has been conducting
cancer research at the ECU Rad./Bio./Onc. Lab and
has been a volunteer at both the Pitt County Humane
Society and Greenville Community Shelter. His major
is undecided.

Alan Emmerling, son of David and Joni Emmerling, Greenville,
North Carolina will graduate from the North Carolina
School of Science and Math where he is a multicultural
peer councilor and leader of Ethical Awareness Group.
He also volunteers with Habitat for Humanity. He plans
ot major in biology.
Peter John Wylie, son of Peter and
Kathleen Wylie, Greenville NC. Peter will graduate
from Junius H. Rose High School where he is the captain
of the soccer team, captain of the Mock Trial team,
and president of the Social Studies Honor Society.
Peter also volunteers with the American Cancer Society
and participated on a mission trip to Mexico this
past summer. Peter plans to major in psychology.

where she is captain of the Academic Challenge Team,

in addition to being a D.A.R.E camp counselor. She

dermatologist.

Alton Dennis Stainback II, son of
Dennis and LaRose Stainback, Henderson, N.C. Alton
will graduate from Southern Vance High School where
he serves as a class president, drum major and chief
editor and founder of the school newspaper. He also
has made the All-District Band at East Carolina University
twice, participated in the N.C Governor's Highway
Safety Program and is on the Quiz Bowl team. He plans
to major in history.

Wake
Carla
June Ammons, daughter of Carl and Anne Ammons, Garner,
North Carolina. Carla will graduate from Garner Senior
High School where she is the costume designer for
the drama department, captain of the gymnastics team,
and an active member of student government. She has
also participated as an attorney in Capital Area Teen
Court, been a member of numerous mission teams with
her church and is a volunteer coach for Upward Cheerleading.
She plans to major in criminology.
Rachel
Anne Babson, daughter of Roger and Cindy Babson, Cary,
NC. Rachel will graduate from Cary High School where
she is National Honor Society treasurer, Chorus vice
president, Section Leader and Accompanist and Interact
Service Committee chair. She also volunteers as a
Relay for Life team captain, participates in community
service at her church through the youth group and
the Appalachian Service Project, and has been a girl
scout for 13 years. She plans to major in textile,
chemical or civil engineering.
Meghan
MargEva Morris, daughter of Arthur and Cynthia Morris,
Raleigh, North Carolina. Meghan will graduate from
Cary Academy where she is vice president of her class,
secretary of Beta Club, and a founder of the Student
Activism and Awareness Organization. She also writes
poetry, tutors middle school students in mathematics,
and competes nationally in hunter horseback riding.
She plans to major in biomedical engineering.
Riley
Edwards Bunn, son of Lee and Pamela Bunn, Raleigh,
North Carolina. Riley will graduate from St. David's
School where he is a christian life committee leader,
an Honor Council member, and president of his class.
He also has volunteered after school at Hope Elementary,
acted in the fall play, and enjoys composing music
for keyboards. He plans to major in architecture.
Ronald
Ray Burton Jr., son of Ronald and Linda Burton, Raleigh,
North Carolina. Ronald will graduate from Wakefield
High School where he is president of the Lettermen's
Club and Adopt-a-Highway. Burton is also chairman
of the Science Honor Society and tutors students with
the National and French Honor Societies. He also received
the Catalyst Award at Summer Ventures in Science and
Mathematics for being one of the top six students
in the math program in the state, was selected First
Team All Conference Defensive End, and is an Eagle
Scout. He plans to major in nuclear or materials engineering.
Katherine
Anne Evans, daughter of John and Beth Evans, Raleigh,
North Carolina. Katherine will graduate from Broughton
High School where she is a leader in the Fellowship
of Christian Athletes, a co-captain of the varsity
basketball team, and the treasurer for Young Women
for Women International. She also has been active
in overseas missions at Providence Baptist Church
as well as English tutoring at HOSTS. Katherine's
major is undecided.
Amber
Danielle Gaither, daughter of Ronald and Pauletta
Gaither, Raleigh, North Carolina. Amber will graduate
from William G. Enloe High School where she is president
of the African American Female Enrichment Organization,
vice president of the Medical BioScience Academy,
and a member of the National Honor Society. She also
is a Project SEED intern, math and science tutor,
and high school lab assistant. She plans to major
in biochemistry.
Warren
Maurice Perry II, son of Warren and Gwendolyn Perry
of Wendell, NC. Warren will graduate from Southeast
Raleigh High School where he is chairman of the Senior
Mentor Program, committee head of Special Events in
his school's National Achiever's Society, and has
been voted "Mr. Southeast Raleigh High School".
He also is a volunteer for the main office and "Students
With Disabilities" at his school, and he volunteers
for the Riley Hill Family Life Center in his community.
He plans to major in biological sciences.
Lauren
Rose Ridge, daughter of Bill Ridge and Tess Wilkinson,
Wake Forest, North Carolina. Lauren will graduate
from North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics
where she is a student ambassador, in the Japanese
Exchange Program, and a member of the FIRST Robotics
Team. She plans to major in chemical engineering.
Erik
Michael Sink, son of Rick and Donna Sink, Raleigh,
North Carolina. Erik will graduate from Enloe High
School where he has excelled in his studies, in being
a captain of the varsity cross country team, and a
principal of Enloe Symphony Orchestra. He also represented
Enloe as a senator at the American Legion Tar Heel
Boys’ State. Erik has contributed to the community
by raising funds for charities such as the American
Cancer Society and the Foundation of Hope and by continually
helping others in need. He owned and operated a landscaping
business and plans to major in aerospace engineering.

Watauga
Nathaniel Marsh Meier, son of Robert
Meier and Sally Marsh, Boone, North Carolina. Nathan
will graduate from the North Carolina School of Science
and Mathematics where he is a residential life assistant
serving as the director of programming, vice president
of Key Club, and captain of the cross country team.
He volunteered at High Country Amigos, providing help
with translation services for local Hispanics as well
as filing need-assessment forms and helped tutor Durham-area
Hispanic children at the county library or E.K. Powe
Elementary through an independent study at NCSSM.
He plans to major in biomedical engineering.

Wayne
Danielle Marie Bliss, daughter of
Mike and Judy Bliss, Goldsboro, NC. Danielle will
graduate from Eastern Wayne High School where she
is Student Government president and a member of the
National Honor Society. She also participates in the
Teen Court program of Wayne County, cheers for a competitive
cheerleading squad in Greenville and is employed by
Logan's Roadhouse as a hostess. She plans to major
in biology.

Wilson
Brenda Mae Haitema, daughter of Tom
and Margarita Haitema, Wilson, North Carolina. Brenda
will graduate from Fike High School where she is is
vice president of Science Olympiad and captain of
the cross country and swim teams. She also organizes
an after-school tutoring program for English as a
second language elementary students, occassionally
plays piano during church services, and is an active
member of youth group. She plans to major in international
relations.

Yancey
Selena Claire Lusk, daughter of Alan
and Nora Lusk, Burnsville, North Carolina. Selena
will graduate from Mountain Heritage High School where
she is president of the Student Government Association,
co-captain of the cross country team and won all confernce
honors on the varsity women's soccer team. She also
volunteers with the Appalachian Therapeutic Riding
Center where she serves on the board of directors.
Selena plans to major in veterinary science.
