Friends
of Library to Hear of "Red Wolves, Pallas' Cats
and Gorillas"
FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The annual fall luncheon of the North Carolina State
University Friends of the Library will feature Dr. Michael
Stoskopf speaking on "Red Wolves, Pallas' Cats
and Gorillas, Oh My," at noon on Friday, Nov.1,
at the McKimmon Center. The public is invited to attend.
Stoskopf, professor of aquatic, wildlife and zoological
medicine and molecular and environmental toxicology
at NC State's College of Veterinary Medicine, will describe
the Red Wolf Species Survival Plan (SSP) in North Carolina,
as well as other animal conservation programs and issues.
Tickets are $13 for Friends of the Library and $16 for
the general public.
The 14th annual NCSU Libraries Faculty Award - honoring
a faculty member who has contributed consistently or
notably to the Libraries - will be presented during
the luncheon.
The goal of the Red Wolf SSP is to save the species
from extinction and reintroduce red wolves to North
Carolina. Faculty and students from the Veterinary College
support the project through several wolf-recovery programs
in the state, from Asheville to Durham and Manteo.
Stoskopf is a diplomate of the American
College of Zoological Medicine, director of both
the Environmental
Medicine Consortium and the Veterinary International
Program, and chair of the NC
State Marine Sciences Council.

of the Library at (919) 515-2841.
