Noted
Journalist to Discuss New Book on Wright Brothers at
NC State
Noah
Adams, a senior correspondent for National Public Radio,
will discuss his new book, “The Flyers: In Search
of Wilbur & Orville Wright,” as part of North
Carolina State University’s Scholars
Program’s Fall 2003 Forum Series on Tuesday,
Oct. 14 from 2:45 to 4 p.m. in the Witherspoon Student
Center’s Campus Cinema.
The
event is free and open to the public. Media
coverage is welcomed.
In his book, Adams traces the lives
of the Wrights by combining personal experiences, original
reporting, letters, diaries and other primary source
material to help readers get to know the famous brothers
not just as inventors and pilots, but also as individuals.
To tell their story, Adams literally follows the Wrights’
footsteps to Kitty Hawk and spends several days talking
with the descendants of the families who helped them
conduct their gliding experiments a century ago.
Adams
draws upon his three decades of radio experience in
his role as a senior correspondent for NPR. In his current
position, he works with NPR’s national desk to
cover stories on the working poor across America and
has regularly been assigned to report on critical international
events. Prior to becoming a senior correspondent, Adams
hosted NPR’s award-winning evening newsmagazine
“All Things Considered.” In addition to
“The Flyers,” Adams is the author of “Piano
Lessons,” “Far Appalachia” and “Saint
Croix Notes.”
