Solar
House Anniversary Offers New Facility, Innovative Vehicles
Environmental
leaders from across North Carolina will gather on Friday
to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the N.C.
Solar Center on the North Carolina State University
campus, and to dedicate the center’s new Alternative
Fuels Vehicle (AFV) demonstration facility.
The dual events will be held from 4 to 6 p.m.
on Friday, Nov. 7, at NC State’s Solar House adjacent
to the McKimmon Center. The media are invited to attend.
The AFV facility will serve as a research
and education facility for a variety of alternative
fuels, and will house a number of alternative-fuel vehicles
– several of which will be featured at Friday’s
dedication.
Officials from the state Department
of Administration, the Department of Environment and
Natural Resources, and NC State are expected to attend.
Created in 1988, the N.C. Solar Center
manages renewable-energy projects and provides information,
research, technical assistance and professional training,
and has developed into one of the nation’s premier
energy institutes. Based in NC State’s College
of Engineering and the Industrial Extension Service,
the center is sponsored by the N.C. State Energy Office
and the U.S. Department of Energy.
To arrange interviews, personal demonstrations of educational
modules, or photographs of the AFVs in advance, contact
