Educator to Address ‘Digital Divide’ at NC State Friday Forum

Raymond Rose, vice president of The Concord Consortium, will be the featured speaker for a forum hosted by North Carolina State University’s College of Education on “Moving the Digital Divide to Digital Equity” from 1 to 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7 in room 202 of Poe Hall on the NC State campus.

Rose will examine the issue of digital access and what it means for schools on the state and national levels. The forum is free and open to the public. Media coverage is welcomed.

Rose is an education specialist with 30 years of experience working with schools as a trainer, consultant and policy-maker. He has provided workshops, training, and technical assistance to school districts and state departments of education across the country on topics such as appropriate use of technology, equity in instruction in mathematics and science, instructional methodology, school improvement, assessment, policy development, and strategic planning.

At The Concord Consortium, Rose conducts research, develops educational applications that address educational problems and manages projects. The Concord Consortium is a nonprofit educational research and development organization based in Concord, Mass.

The forum, sponsored by NC State’s William and Ida Friday Institute for Educational Innovation and the Bettye MacPhail-Wilcox Administrative Technology Fund, is the third session in a series of First Friday Forums hosted by the institute. The purpose of the First Friday Forums is to bring educators and the general public together to address educational issues that have a widespread impact. Two forums are planned for the spring 2004 semester.
