Professor
to Address Middle-East Peace Process in Campus Forum
Dr.
Akram Khater, associate professor of history
at North Carolina State University, will host a campus
forum on “The Road Map to Peace in the Middle
East” on Thursday, Nov. 13 from 12:40 to 1:40
p.m. in the Talley Student Center’s Blue Room,
located on the center’s fourth floor. Media coverage
of the forum is welcomed.
Khater,
a noted specialist in the social and cultural history
of the Middle East, will explore issues such as why
the Middle East peace process continues to fail, what
the role of the United States should be in that process,
and how the issue is related to U.S. involvement in
Iraq and Afghanistan.
The
forum is part of the Fall 2003 PEACE Lunch Forum Series
sponsored by the Presbyterian Campus Ministry of Raleigh.
The PEACE Lunch Forums bring students and faculty from
various academic disciplines and religious traditions
together to talk about important political and social
issues. A committee of NC State faculty and staff selects
the topics and speakers according to a list of criteria
established by the Presbyterian Campus Ministry of Raleigh
