N.C. Japan Center Presents Conference on “Trade and Investment”

What: The North Carolina Japan Center, in partnership with World Trade Center North Carolina, the North Carolina State University College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the NC State College of Management, and the Institute for Emerging Issues, presents its 20th annual conference, “North Carolina and Japan: Trade and Investment.” The conference is designed to provide a forum for current review and discussion of the relationship between North Carolina and Japan. Participants include leading experts in business, industry and government.

Current scheduled participants:

  • Raoul Baxter, vice president of corporate development, Smithfield Foods Inc.
  • Brian Baymiller, U.S. branch manager, Fuji Silysia Chemical Ltd.
  • Peter Cunningham, director of the International Trade Division, N.C. Department of Commerce
  • O. William Fenn Jr., honorary consul general of Japan in North Carolina
  • Former Gov. James B. Hunt Jr.
  • The Honorable Chikao Kawai, minister for economic affairs, the Embassy of Japan, Washington, D.C.
  • Scott Seaman, international trade specialist, U.S. Department of Commerce
  • Dr. Marjory E. Searing, vice president of public relations: Japan, Asia and Latin America, Pfizer Inc.
  • N.C. Rep. Joe P. Tolson
  • Dr. L. George Wilson, vice provost for international affairs, North Carolina State University

Who: Presented by the North Carolina Japan Center in NC State’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHASS), World Trade Center North Carolina, the NC State College of Management and the Institute for Emerging Issues.

When: Friday, Nov. 19, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where: Sheraton Imperial Hotel Durham, near Research Triangle Park, N.C. (at I-40 Exit 282)

Cost: Attendance fee is $65 (includes lunch); pre-registration is required
