Reedy Creek Greenway & Pedestrian Bridge Opens April 16

What: North Carolina State University Provost Larry Nielsen will be one of the featured speakers at the celebration of the Reedy Creek Greenway & Pedestrian Bridge opening at the N.C. Museum of Art. The greenway connects NC State, Meredith College, the museum and Umstead State Park via a paved bicycle and pedestrian trail. The bridge, the longest pedestrian bridge in the state, provides access to the museum park. Festivities begin with an 11 a.m. parade from Meredith College across the new pedestrian bridge and into the greenway. Park tours, puppetry, arts and crafts workshops for children, and kite flying demonstrations will be among the activities offered.

Who: Raleigh Mayor Charles Meeker, Provost Nielsen, and Meredith College President Maureen Hartford will speak at the formal dedication ceremony, to be held at noon.

When: Saturday, April 16, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Rain date is Sunday, April 17.

Where: Parade forms on Meredith College campus at 10:30 a.m. Transportation provided by City of Raleigh trolleys..

Cost: Free and open to the public.
