Paleontologist Horner to Speak at NC State University

paleontologist Dr. John “Jack” R.
Horner will be the keynote speaker at a luncheon held
by the North Carolina State University College of Physical
and Mathematical Sciences at noon on Friday, Sept.
23. The luncheon is part of the college’s Alumni & Friends
Weekend.
Horner may
be best known for his role as advisor for Steven
Spielberg’s three Jurassic Park films,
and he is the basis for the films’ main character,
Dr. Alan Grant. Horner’s groundbreaking perspectives
on dinosaur behavior, expressed through the films,
changed the face of modern paleontology.
Horner
is Regents Professor of Paleontology at Montana State
University
and Curator of Paleontology at Museum of the Rockies
in Bozeman, MT. He has published more than 100 papers
and several books, including Digging Dinosaurs, which
was designated one of the 100 most important science
books of the 20th century. In addition to dinosaur
digs in Montana, Horner has led expeditions to Mongolia,
Argentina, Tanzania, Romania, France and Spain.
