Perot to Headline Fourth Annual Shelton Leadership Forum at NC State

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Texas billionaire and former U.S. presidential candidate H. Ross Perot will headline the
fourth annual General Henry Hugh Shelton Leadership Forum, scheduled for Friday, Nov. 11,
from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Jane S. McKimmon Conference and Training Center on the
North Carolina State University campus.

The forum, titled “Leadership That Leaves a Legacy,” will also include the forum’s
namesake, retired Army Gen. Hugh Shelton, and Dr. John C. Maxwell, best-selling author and
founder of Maximum Impact and INJOY Stewardship Services.

Perot will give the forum’s opening message at 8:45 a.m., and Maxwell will present the
keynote address – titled “Achieving the Legacy You Want to Leave,” – at 1:45 p.m. The event
will also include a concurrent breakout session and a luncheon.

The cost of the forum is $159, and preregistration is strongly encouraged. For more
information or to register, visit www.ncsu.edu/sheltonleadership, or call 919/515-2261.

Perot became a household name in 1992, when he ran for the U.S. presidency as an
independent candidate. He drew 19 percent of the popular vote in the election, the most by a
third-party candidate since 1912. He ran again in 1996 as the Reform Party candidate.

Maxwell has shared his leadership principles to Fortune 500 companies, the U.S.
Military Academy at West Point, and sports organizations such as the NCAA, NBA and NFL.
He has written more than 30 books, including “Developing the Leader Within You” and “The
21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership,” which each sold more than a million copies.

The General Henry Hugh Shelton Leadership Forum is an annual seminar series that
focuses attention on the importance of leadership development. The forum is one program
offering of the General Henry Hugh Shelton Leadership Initiative, which is administered by the
NC State Office of Extension and Engagement. As executive director, Gen. Shelton is
committed to developing values-based leadership skills to enhance corporate, government,
education, nonprofit and youth development organizations. The General Henry Hugh Shelton
Leadership Initiative offers scholarships, as well as executive, faculty, student and youth
development conferences.
