Authors Smith, Crowther to Present NC State Short Story
Contest Awards

What: Novelist Lee Smith and her husband Hal Crowther will present awards to the
winners of the annual North Carolina State University Short Story Contest and
host a reading from selected works.

Smith, an NC State professor emeritus of creative writing, is the best-selling
author of Fair and Tender Ladies, Saving Grace, Family Linen, The Last Girls and
other books. Crowther is a journalist and columnist for The Oxford American
magazine and author of Unarmed but Dangerous, Cathedrals of Kudzu: A Personal
Landscape of the South
and Gather at the River: Notes from a Post-Millennial
South.

Who: The event is sponsored by the NC State Department of English and the Creative
Writing Program, which is part of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHASS)..

When: Wednesday, Nov. 16th at 7:30 p.m..

Where: Caldwell Hall lounge, which is located on Hillsborough Street on the NC State
campus.

Cost: The event is free and open to the public.
