State and Federal Lawmakers to Discuss Public Education at NC State

What: U.S. Reps. Bob Etheridge and David Price and N.C. Rep. Deborah Ross are scheduled to headline North Carolina State University’s first-ever NC State- NAACP Leadership Series Program. The focus of this program will be the future of public education. The guest speakers will address topics such as closing the achievement gap in grades K-12, budget cuts to the federal student-loan program, and the legislative process necessary to renew the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Lawmakers will field questions following their remarks. A reception will be held after the program.

Who: Presented by NC State’s college chapter of the NAACP

When: Wednesday, Jan. 11, at 7 p.m.

Where: Campus Cinema in the Witherspoon Student Center. The Witherspoon Student Center is located at the corner of Cates Avenue and Dan Allen Drive on NC State’s main campus.

Cost: Free and open to the public
