What happens at Orientation?
Here is the current anticipated schedule for Spring Entry Parents’ Orientation December 7, 2012 and January 4, 2013.  A copy of this schedule, with more details, will be provided to you at check-in.

Welcome from Parents & Families Services

Now that you have a student on campus, you are a member of the NC State Family, too. We will introduce you to the programs and services NC State provides specifically for parents and review some tools for success you received at check-in.

9:25- 10:05am

Having a Student at NC State

Whether your student is a first time freshman, or is transferring to NC State, it’s a new and special experience! Let us share some Wolfpack knowledge with you, and hear from some current students about their experiences at NC State.

10:20- 10:50am

Transportation Services

Representatives from Transportation Services will provide information on transportation options available at NC State- from residential students bringing a car to campus, commuting, using the Wolfline or public transportation.

11:00- 11:30am

The Way to Pay

The Cashier’s Office will address tuition, student fees and payment information to help explain the processes and procedures in place at NC State.  If you have questions in regards to Financial Aid, please visit them in 2016 Harris Hall.

11:40am- 12:10pm

Office of Information Technology

This session focuses on the technological resources available to your student at NC State. University representatives will address a variety of related topics including classroom technology, computer lab facilities, ResNet, and what to look for if you are buying your student a computer.

12:10- 1:15pm

Lunch at Fountain Dining Hall

Let your mind have a moment to process the morning’s sessions and enjoy a taste of Dining Services! Use the meal ticket you received at check-in or purchased this morning.  You can also pay at the door for $7.50.

1:15- 1:45pm

University Housing or Commuter Student

Housing staff will discuss the benefits to living on campus, resources available in the residence halls, and details about moving on to campus in the spring.  Or if you student will be commuting to campus, listen to a presentation from one of our commuter students.

1:50- 2:20pm

University Dining

Families will learn more about University Dining and the many services that are offered for students who live on and off campus. Information about the Wolfpack One card will also be presented.

2:20- 2:50pm

Student Health Services

Student Health Services will share the services available at the Student Health Center and answer questions you may about the student insurance plan.

2:50- 3:20pm

Campus Police

University Police officers will address issues regarding campus safety and will tell you about the services available for students.

3:30pm

Close of program
Depart for walking tours of central campus, Carmichael Gymnasium and D.H. Hill Library

If you are interested in visiting campus, join us for one of our tours.  Tours will depart from Talley.
