Academic Advising Internship Program (AAIP)
Each year, the Office of Advising Support, Information and Services selects a group of mature and dedicated graduate students to assist with implementing academic and advising support programs throughout the year. In this capacity, Academic Advising Interns serve as academic advisers and coaches, program developers, course instructors, workshop facilitators, and student advocates. Through training experiences, Academic Advising Interns are responsible for a specific body of knowledge about advising and must select a specific concentration area (advising, first generation, at-risk, transfer, military, etc.). In addition to providing leadership in their area of concentration, interns are expected to contribute ideas and energy in other areas of academic intervention and success planning. Selection to the Academic Advising Intern is both a unique honor and rewarding opportunity for personal and professional growth. As a vital member of this dynamic team, graduate interns enjoy a memorable experience while providing a valuable service to the university. OASIS takes pride in that previous Academic Advising Interns currently work in institutions such as Meredith College, NC State University and University of Kentucky in an academic advising position. Interested candidates should review the position descriptions for the various concentration areas below and complete the application process as soon as possible. Interns will work closely with their supervisor to ensure that course requirements, completion of individual or group hours, or other internship or practicum requirements are met. Supervisors provide on-going feedback and assessment throughout the semester. Concentration Areas: Should you have questions about the Academic Advising Internship Program please contact Keri Bowman at keri_bowman@ncsu.edu or Roxanna McGraw at roxanna_mcgraw@ncsu.edu.
