Dr. Bailian Li
Vice Provost for International Affairs

Dr. Li is the leader of University International Programs, reports to the Provost, and collaborates with College Deans and their International Coordinators in the internationalization of the University. His mandate is to lead and promote a global perspective into all functions of teaching, research, and extension/ engagement and to strengthen NC State's international presence in an ever-changing global society.
Before joining Confucius Institute, Dr. Li was a professor in the Department of Forestry and Environmental Resources and Co-Director of the North Carolina State University Industry Tree Improvement Program. Previously, he worked at the University of Minnesota for six years and has been at NC State since 1996.
Dr. Li has extensive international experience in research and teaching collaboration with many foreign universities, research institutes and governmental agencies, including Australia, Canada, China, Chile, Finland, Malaysia, New Zealand, Sweden, and Turkey. He has been active leader in several international profession organizations and served as adjunct professor at several foreign universities. |

Dr. Xiaoying Wang

Dr. Xiaoying Wang, professor of English. She received her Master’s Degree in English Literature and Ph.D. in Comparative literature both from Nanjing Normal University, and has been teaching at School of Foreign Languages and Cultures, Nanjing Normal University since 1989.
Dr. Wang’s research covers British literature, American literature, Women literature and comparative. Her published books include Toward the Wholeness of Survival –A Study of Alice Walker’s Womanist Literary Creation and She World: An Introduction to 100 Classics by Western Women. She also edited some textbooks andtranslated several English fictions into Chinese. |

Dr. Keqian Xu

Dr. Keqian Xu is a Professor of Chinese Language and Culture of Nanjing Normal University, Nanjing, China. He received his Ph.D from Fudan University, Shanghai, China. He had been teaching Chinese language, Chinese Philosophy and Literature in Nanjing Normal University Since 1984, also served at times as Vice Chairman of Chinese Department, University Librarian, etc. His academic research mainly concentrated in the field of Pre-Qin literature and philosophy, especially those of Pre-Qin Confucianism and Taoism. His publications include 10 books and more the 60 papers.
He served as Deputy Director at NC State Confucius Institute for two years and played an irreplaceable role in the development of the institute. Currently he resumes his teaching and research work in Nanjing Normal University.

Anna Lamm

Ms. Lamm works as the China Program Director at North Carolina State University and the Deputy Director for the Confucius Institute, representing the Office of International Affairs and the Confucius Institute in communication for China related international programs to university and external communities. She is responsible for developing and managing Chinese university linkages for academic exchange, coordinating Summer Abroad trips to China, managing marketing opportunities and outreach programs for the Confucius Institute, and promoting NC State and the Confucius Institute to facilitate opportunities for students and citizens to become more globally proficient, especially in the China field. She is a North Carolinian native but grew up in Hong Kong, where she learned Mandarin Chinese and her appreciation for Chinese culture. She received her B.S. from Appalachian State University in International and Comparative Politics with minors in Chinese and Military Science. She spent a year teaching English in Zibo, China and received her Master of International Studies, with a focus on U.S. and Chinese Foreign policy, from NC State.

Guanglin Dai

Ms. Dai taught college English in China before she came to the U.S. for graduate studies. In 2004, she obtained her master’s degree in English Education from UNC Pembroke, and moved to Raleigh to study Organizational Communication at NC State University. In 2006, she graduated with a master’s degree in Communication, and has been working in China-related field since then.
Currently she works as Program Manager at NC State Confucius Institute, responsible for initiating and implementing annual projects of the Institute, marketing for Chinese language and cultural programs, connecting Chinese teachers with the necessary recources, budgeting and account - keeping as well as other administrative and technical management.

Lijuan Wang

Ms. Wang Lijuan is a lecturer of the International College for Chinese Studies at Nanjing Normal University. She obtained her master degree in linguistics and applied linguistics from Nanjing University in 2004. She has been teaching Chinese as a second language in Nanjing Normal University since August, 2004. Currently she is a visiting scholar of the Confucius Institute at North Carolina State University |
