The Second Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Confucius Institute at North Carolina was held on the evening of June 2nd, US Eastern Time. Members of the Board attended the meeting through online TV conference system at Raleigh and Nanjing respectively.
Professor Wang Jian, the Chair of the Board and Vice Presided of Nanjing Normal University, presided the meeting. Dr. Betsy Brown, the Director of the Confucius Institute gave a report on Confucius Institute's activity in the 2007-08 academic year, and introduced the activities the Institute is planning for the next academic year as well. The members of the Board fully acknowledged and affirmed the successful works the Confucius Institute has conducted since its establishment, and principally endorsed its plan and suggestions of further activity and work. Vice Provost Bailian Li and Vice President Wang Jian, representing the two sides of the partnership of North Carolina State University and Nanjing Normal University , promised that the two Universities will continue their support for the development of the Institute. They also hope that the two Universities can collaborates more closely through the platform of the institute, in aspects include students and faculty exchange, teachers training, summer study abroad program, etc.
Members attended the meeting also include Deputy Director of the Institute Keqian Xu and Sarah Cao , Vice Director of International Affairs of Nanjing Normal University Mr. Yidong Wu. Attendees also include Mr. Haining Xu, the Director of International Affairs of Nanjing Normal University, Ms. Guanglin Dai, the coordinator of the Confucius Institute of OIA, and Ms. Lijuan Wang, the second teacher from NNU who will soon come to work in the Confucius Institute.
