Camcore– Camcore's mission is to be a leader in conservation and domestication of forest genetic resources for sustainable economic, ecological, and social benefits of present and future generations.
Forest
Nutrition Cooperative
This partnership between NC State
and Virginian Tech is one of the
world’s largest cooperative
forest research and education programs.
Cooperative members manage over
24 million acres (10 million hectares)
of pine and broadleaf plantations
in the southeast USA and Latin
America.
Forest
Biotechnology Group
This research group promotes innovation
in basic science to advance the
application of molecular genetics
to forest trees. This purpose is
implemented through research, scientist
training, and technology transfer
worldwide. The program is
lead by two of the world’s
leading researchers – Dr.
Vincent Chiang and Dr. Ron Sederoff.
DEPARTMENT
OF PARKS, RECREATION & TOURISM MANAGEMENT
NC State’s PRTM Department
is active worldwide in spreading
its expertise and belief in the benefits
of parks, recreation, sports and
tourism for people, communities and
economies. Our faculty and staff
conduct research projects with global
partners, encourage frequent reciprocal
professional visits from PRTM professionals
from around the world and often attend
or present at international conferences
to assist members of the international
community with their recreation,
sports or tourism planning needs.
In addition, each year PRTM sponsors
international student trips or study
abroad programs.
Current Research Projects
Our current international research
partnerships involve various joint
activities being conducted with
the Chinese University of Hong
Kong, the National Taiwan University
of Taiwan, the Chinese Academy
of Forestry Sciences as well
as Griffth University and the
University of the Sunshine Coast
in Australia.
International Conferences
Faculty members recently participated
in IUCN-World Conservation Union
sponsored conferences or other
international conferences held
in such areas as South Africa,
British Columbia, Hong Kong and
Australia. In September 2006,
PRTM Associate professor YuFai
Leung will serve as co-convener
of a special session on recreation
ecology at the 3rd International
Conference on Monitoring and
Management of Visitor Flows in
Recreational and Protected Areas
to be held in Rapperswil, Switzerland.
Student Projects
We are currently involved in on-going
initiatives in China, Ghana and
Australia, with more planned
worldwide in the years ahead
as we expand our reach.
For example, our Ghana
Landscapes of Eco-Tourism program is
an immersive multicultural
experience for students interested
in critical design and eco-tourism
issues in the developing world.
Participants are helping to document
and communicate the impact of ecotourism
on the country and develop sustainable
ecotourism strategies as a catalyst
for community development.
DEPARTMENT OF WOOD AND PAPER SCIENCE

presented papers, engaged in research
and provided outreach support in
numerous parts of the world including
Austria, Caribbean, China, Czech
Republic, Finland, Germany, Portugal,
Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Slovakia

Students in WPS gain valuable paid
work experience through international
internships. These
internships have been established
through faculty contacts and are
a good example of the commitment
faculty have to broadening students'
experiences to better prepare them
for an increasingly global marketplace.
Professionals around the world interested
in continuing their educations can
