Advising International Students
OIS adheres, in general, to a college liaison model to provide continuous support to NC State faculty & staff. Please visit this link for your college liaison's contact information.
Providing a clear explanation of the rights, responsibilities, requirements, and options to international students is a partnership between OIS advisors and the academic advisors (DGPs, Graduate Secretaries, Committee Chairs, Coordinators of Advising, and others) in the department.
This section of our website is specifically designed for academic advisors, supervisors, and other departmental staff working with international students. In the left hand menu, you will find links to our Enrollment and Employment sections, which provide you with an overview, helpful links as well as the latest updates on a variety of frequently addressed subjects regarding international students. Under Faculty & Staff Resources, you’ll find links to all forms, resources and training materials. Information sessions for Faculty & Staff are held every second Thursday of the month – topics and locations are announced on the Updates & Newsletters web page.
If you are looking for NC State or Community resources helpful to international students, please refer to our Reference Guide for New Incoming International Students and the Orientation & Resources section. You’ll for instance find information on how to apply for a SSn, NC driver’s license, housing options, English language resources, cultural programs, etc.
Please refer to the Advisor’s Corner of our Faculty & Staff Newsletter for a quick overview of the most recent immigration regulation changes and policy updates.
