Orientation Events & Schedules Spring 2013
Deadlines for Fall 2013 check-ins will be available on April 15th, 2013
Each year the Office of International Services welcomes hundreds of new international students through a series of Orientation events. Each event will provide access to important resources and help you connect with other new students. For a general overview of all Orientation events please reference our Orientation Calendar. Specific information on the next series of events can be accessed through the links below.
Check In
Mandatory for all new international students so that we may meet you and have a record of your arrival. At Check In we will make copies of your
immigration documents, provide useful information and a Check list to help you accomplish important tasks upon your arrival to NC State.
An email will be sent with instructions on how to select your Check In date and time. Check In Schedule and FAQs
The Information Fair
Helps bring numerous on and off campus resources to a central location to better serve our new international student
population. This is an excellent opportunity to speak directly with representatives from various organizations,
companies and offices and have your questions answered. Typical Information Fair participants include local banks,
student organizations and the NC Division of Motor Vehicles as well as on campus units such as Student Legal Services, Transportation, The Recreation Center, NC State’s Library system and many more. This year the Information Fair will be held on August 15th, 2013 at McKimmon Center.
Orientation Day
The main Orientation event and is mandatory for all new international students. Held before each semester, Orientation Day includes presentations from important offices that cover topics such as immigration status, academic integrity, legal rights and NC State’s mandatory health insurance plan. Part of Orientation each year is dedicated to Student Success. The Student Success session is an informational session for new students presented by OIS, the Office of Student Conduct and the Counseling Center. We will discuss how to make your stay here a success, academically and in all other areas. The afternoon provides a variety of “mini-sessions” that you are welcome to attend based on your area of interest. Orientation Day is also a great way to meet new students and begin lasting friendships at NC State. This year, Orientation will be held on August 15th and 16th at McKimmon Center.

Welcome Party
A great way to relax, have fun and meet new friends! Welcome Party occurs within
the first two weeks of each semester and is only for new international students. Past parties have included bowling,
American line dancing, dinner in downtown Raleigh and/or games! It’s a great way to end our Orientation activities
each semester. Date and location details will be provided via e-mail.
Resources and Handouts are available here!
A very special thank you goes out to our Orientation Team! They are largely responsible for planning many of the events each semester and Orientation would be impossible without them!
