Scholars Overview
This section is designed for International Scholars (those conducting temporary research, teaching or observing -- not employed in a permanent faculty position or enrolled in courses) at NC State University. In particular, this Scholar section will provide an overview of the “hiring” process, visa application and arrival information, and important visa and other regulatory information in the context of the J-1 Exchange Visitor visa. If you are an NC State employee in search of guidance about sponsoring a visitor from abroad please visit the Departmental Overview Section. While other visa types may sometimes be used, this section is meant to serve as a resource for Scholars coming to, or already in, the U.S. under NC State University J-1 visa sponsorship. Prospective Scholars who are interested in conducting research at NC State should first inquire with relevant academic departments about available opportunities. Requests for J-1 visa support on behalf of a Scholar come to OIS through host academic departments, not directly from the Scholars.
