Hi and Welcome to the OIS Website! We hope you find what you need here, learn something new, and come back again often.
The Office of International Scholar and Student Services (OIS), affectionately dubbed, "O - I - triple S," has multiple functions and serves numerous populations. We are the central resource for international students and scholars at NC State University and we also assist the academic and hiring units of the University when it comes to enrolling or employing international students or scholars. We have been designated by the University as the office that is responsible for immigration advising and document processing as well as providing programs and services for our international community.
OIS, along with the Office of Study Abroad, reports to the Vice Provost for International Affairs, who in turn reports to the Provost.
Some of our "customers" include:
- Currently enrolled international students (about 2,200)
- Currently employed international scholars (about 500)
- International applicants (about 6,000 each year)
- Incoming international employees (40-50 at any time)
- Dependent family members of international students and scholars (about 1,400)
- International alumni and former scholars
- Academic units at NC State University that admit and enroll international students
- Hiring units at NC State that employ international employees
- Other University units that serve internationals, such as Admissions, Cashiers, Payroll, CO-OP, Human Resources, Housing, etc.,
- Sponsors or sending agencies of international students and scholars
- Federal and state agencies as well as professional and media organizations that request public info
- Residents of North Carolina and local community agencies that interact with the international students, scholars, and family members of NC State University
