1) OISSS welcomes 80 new international students this Spring. Total international student enrollment for Spring should be just about 1,000. Reminders: a) enroll fulltime, b) limit all employment to 20 hours per week, c) purchase the NC State University Student Medical Insurance Plan if you haven't already done so, and d) F-1's who hope to do Optional Practical Training Summer 1999, should apply now since INS is taking 3-4 months to process applications.
2) Are you interested in improving your English
and meeting other people? Last semester, we began an English club which
met Friday afternoon and it quickly became very popular. Join us on
Fridays from 3:30 PM until 4:30 PM beginning January 15th. Discussion
topics will vary from current events to special interests that
the group has. After a brief introduction to several idioms,
the group breaks out in several smaller discussion groups -
each with native English speakers for lively discussion and
friendly grammar and usage pointers. No reservation necessary,
just meet at Room 246, Daniels Hall.
3) New Walk-in Hours. Because of our increasing workload and walk-in demands, our walk-in hours for Spring 1999 are now Monday afternoons from 1:30 until 4:00. Please make an appointment to see an advisor for business at other times (other than signatures, picking up material, or dropping off forms). Thank you.
