ISSERV (International Students & Scholars Engaged in Reaching out & Volunteering) is a program designed to encourage NC State international students/scholars/spouses to volunteer in the Raleigh community. By volunteering in the community, internationals interact with Americans and learn more about American culture and in turn, share their own culture with those they meet.

Internationals can make a difference in the community through such organizations as the Food Bank of North Carolina, American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics, Building Together, Exploris, Ten Thousand Villages, etc. Opportunities include building a house, working with older adults, tutoring children, cleaning up rivers, etc. Participants choose their project and how much time they want to commit.

We also would like to hear from organizations that need volunteers. We can publicize those opportunities to our ISSERV volunteers. Please contact our office if your organization has specific volunteer needs, and if your organization can provide transportation or is on a bus route (many of our students do not have cars).

Note: You must be an NC State student, scholar, spouse, or family member in order to join ISSERV.
