NC STATE INTERNATIONAL GRADUATE
SCHOLARSHIPS
NC State University is committed to international education
and exchange, and seeks ways to demonstrate that commitment
on this campus. The purpose of the International Graduate
Scholarships is to provide partial support to four enrolled
international graduate students for continuing their
studies, returning home and making a significant contribution
to their home countries. Four awards of $2,000 will
be offered to the selected recipients.
WHO MAY APPLY
The scholarships are open to any currently enrolled
international graduate student who will have been at
NC State University for one year by the Fall
2003 semester and will enroll full-time for the Fall
2004 semester. The student must:
a) be a holder of an F-1 or J-1 student visa (U.S.
permanent residents or citizens are not eligible);
b) be enrolled full-time in a degree program;
c) intend to return to his or her home country at
the end of his or her studies;
d) not have been a previous winner of an NC State
International Graduate Scholarship (previously known
as the Alumni Association International Graduate Fellowship).
HOW TO APPLY
Please submit the following:
* Completed
application form (submit one original and three
copies)
* Three references (on forms supplied in a sealed envelope)
with at least two from those who know of the applicant's
academic qualifications
* Any information or other supporting documents which
the applicant believes might assist the selection committee
in making a decision may be attached or included (submit
one original and three copies).
* Four copies of your current NC State University transcript
(unofficial or web version is fine)
Mail or bring the application to the Office of International
Scholar and Student Services (320 Daniels Hall). The
application must be received by 4:00 p.m. on Friday,
March 26th, 2004. Late or incomplete applications (including
all three extra photocopied sets) will not be accepted
or considered.
SELECTION PROCESS
The recipients of the fellowships will be determined
by a selection committee on the basis of:
a) demonstrated financial need;
b) academic excellence and achievement; and
c) expected contribution to his/her home country upon
return.
The decision of the committee is final.
