  • OIS Schedule Change
    On Friday March 9th, most of the staff in OIS will be attending and presenting at the NC Association of International Educators state conference in Charlotte, NC. Due to limited staffing there will not be any walk-ins or appointments. OIS will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to accept phone calls or paperwork that can be dropped off. We appreciate your patience as we continue to explore professional opportunities that will enhance our ability to better serve the international population at NC State.

  • Have a Heart Campaign
    OIS is a designated drop off point for the Have a Heart Campaign. From February 1-24, NC State University will be collecting donations for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. So bring a few non-perishable items to OIS during your next visit and help show the UNC community that NC State has a heart!

  • Co-op Job Fair
    The Spring 2012 Co-op Job Fair will be held on Wednesday February 29th from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Only students who have completed the Co-op application process may attend the Job Fair. For more information visit:http://www.ncsu.edu/co-op_ed/students/jobs/fairs.php

  • Applying for CPT extensions or a new CPT for Spring 2012?
    If you need an extension of your current CPT, please make sure to request the extension prior to the end date of your current CPT and no later than Monday, December 19th, 2011. If you are applying for CPT for the Spring 2012 semester, please submit your completed application no later than Monday, December 19th, 2011. Any requests received after this date will not be processed until January 2012. Requests for full time CPT for the Spring 2012 semester must be finalized and approved prior to January 23rd, 2012.

  • IMOM!
    International student and scholar spouses be sure to join IMOM! For more information about IMOM please visit the OIS Programs web page.

  • Need Some Wheels?
    Check out the new Zipcar program offered by NC State. Zipcar is a car-sharing program offering the convenience of car ownership without the hassle and expense of having a car on campus. The NC State Zipcar program has four brand-new Zipcars available for use - two Prius hybrids and two Scion XB crossovers. For additional information visit the NC State Zipcar website.

  • OPT Reminders
    OIS accepts completed OPT applications on Mondays and Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. Please attend an OPT Information Session for more information about OPT and view the OPT information on the OIS web page. Please remember to print and bring the OPT handout with you to the OPT session, OIS will no longer be distributing handouts.

  • Campus ID Card Update.
    All visitors, no-pay employees, spouses of students/scholars, and temporary employees will be charged a $20,- fee when they request a (new) campus ID card. This change in policy is effective immediately. When a person who falls in one of the above categories needs to apply for a campus ID card, they have to bring a request form completed by their department. For spouses of international students and scholars, OIS will be happy to complete this form.   • Information Session: OPT and H-1B

The Office of International Services and the Office of International Employment have partnered to bring you an informative session about OPT and H-1B status. We will explain the transition from graduation to F-1 OPT status to H-1B and we will cover the details of being in H-1B status. The session is open to all interested students as well as faculty and staff.

Thursday, February 16th from 3:00-4:30 p.m. in Witherspoon, room 201.

 

  • Intercultural Communication in the U.S. Classroom

The Graduate School and the Office of International Services have partnered to bring you this workshop focused on teaching in the U.S. university classroom. This workshop is designed to
introduce both international and domestic graduate students to effective teaching and learning strategies by exploring cultural differences that sometimes impact teaching and learning effectiveness. A panel of experienced international and domestic Teaching Assistants
will answer questions and share their experiences.

Tuesday, February 14th from 9:00-11:00 a.m. in room 3118 of the Talley Student Center.
