Our thoughts on training
First and foremost, we recognize that the successful transition to WolfWise for our Oracle customers will depend heavily on the training and online resources we make available. During the summer, we plan to offer several informational and hands-on training sessions for technical staff. In the fall, we will begin offering customer-centered training.
In July 2008 OIT will offer some training sessions for IT technical staff on campus and within OIT. Our objective is to have IT staff begin using the system so that:
- They can familiarize themselves with how WolfWise works;
- Provide us with feedback on the WolfWise web site and the training resources we have made available, including commonly asked questions (specific to how it works in Oracle vs. GroupWise);
- Provide us with feedback on how we can best assist them as support people within their own department, unit or college.
- We plan to have a mix of online sessions, demos, online resources (including video) and some quick reference guides for IT staff to hand out to their users.
- We are also looking at designing some train the trainer sessions for those units that can and wish to train their own staff.
- Our first training session will be focused on Oracle calendar node managers and any of their technical staff. Node managers will be sent an email shortly with details on this session.
