Orientation Overview

WELCOME TO NC STATE UNIVERSITY!

The Office of New Student Orientation welcomes you to NC State University, a community of achievers rich in tradition and academic excellence.  New Student Orientation, a two-day program that is required for all first-year students, will help you prepare for your transition into college life as well as the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead—intellectually, emotionally, academically, and socially.

New Student Orientation takes place from late June through early August.  You will need to attend the session that corresponds with the college into which you have been admitted.

New Student Orientation features both academic and social components that include:

  • Connecting with NC State faculty, staff, and University resources, learning what is expected from you as a NC State student, and finding the support you will need
  • Academic advising, first-semester schedule planning, and course registration
  • AllCampus card processing (your student ID)
  • Overviews of campus life and student services
  • Opportunities to explore NC State’s campus, the D.H. Hill Library, classrooms, and recreational facilities
  • An overnight stay in a residence hall with other new students

Please read the information in this packet carefully and share it with your parents and family members.  Included in this information is an Orientation Parking Permit and directions to campus.  Parents and Families Services will be sending out separate information regarding Parents’ Orientation.  They can be reached by calling 1.877.568.5733 or visiting their website at www.ncsu.edu/for_parents.

If you have additional questions, please feel free to email us at orientation@ncsu.edu, or call our office at 919.515.1234.  We are open Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and are happy to assist you.

Once again, welcome to the Wolfpack family and we look forward to seeing you at Orientation!
