Partnerships
New Student Orientation
is committed to providing leadership in the development of
a cooperative effort among the independent orienting initiatives
of the university's undergraduate academic and student support
programs. The assistance and cooperation that we receive
from our campus partners help to ensure that students will
be exposed to broad educational opportunities and will successfully
integrate into the life of the institution.
New Student Orientation
coordinates efforts with all colleges and academic units to
ensure that students become acquainted with academic and
co-curricular opportunities at NC State University. This
collaboration allows students to be exposed to exciting and
diverse academic opportunities that are pertinent to a student’s
success.
The Division
of Undergraduate Academic Programs contributes to
the mission of New Student Orientation. This organization
is
in the
unique position to provide an optimal learning and teaching
environment for students. This partnership with Cooperative
Education, Undergraduate Research, Undergraduate Tutorial
Center, University Honors, and Advising Central has provided
and maintained a collective effort to provide intellectual,
cultural, and social perspectives to all new students.
Undergraduate
Admissions works closely with our office to ensure
that students find their transition from prospective student
to first year student a seamless process.
The
Office of Information Technology plays a vital role
in the success and transition of incoming students at NC
State University. Each year, New Student Orientation shares
the responsibility of exposing students to the virtual
realities of the University’s
computing networks and resources. This partnership ensures
that students are aware of the state-of the art technology
across campus and the responsibilities associated with
it.
The Department
of Counselor Education has been a long time partner
of New Student Orientation. This department sponsors the
ECD 223 course that all student counselors must successfully
complete in order to work with incoming students each year.
The integration of teaching and technology in the course
curriculum signifies the importance placed on undergraduate
education.
The Office of
Diversity and African American Affairs has assisted
New Student Orientation in advocating and communicating
that diversity is at the core of the University’s
academic mission. Their participation ensures that a comprehensive
range of academic, cultural, and social disciplines are
included in all orientation programs.
