1974 (FERPA), New Student Orientation protects the confidentiality of
any student (age 18 or over) records. Access to a student's Orientation
records will be given to that student only, unless the student has given
written consent.
The office of New Student Orientation is committed to protecting the
privacy and security of the information that we request over the phone
or online. Personal, demographic, and academic information is collected
and used for the following purposes:
* To evaluate and process online registration forms
* To communicate directly with prospective students over the phone or
via email
* To ensure the safety and security of a student during
New Student Orientation
To comply with state and federal requirements information
provided in the form of email messages to this office’s email accounts may
be directed to another NC State University office for the assistance
with the prospective student’s question(s). Personal information
including email address is otherwise not disclosed.
Disclosure of information – the information described
above is not shared, sold, or traded with any individuals or entities
not affiliated
with NC State University.
State and federal reporting – no personally
identifiable information is ever disclosed.
Internet form security – Our website uses
forms that utilize SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) technology to ensure
that personal information
is transmitted securely (in encrypted form) over the web. As with all
online services, we encourage you to take your own steps to protect personal
information, such as closing the web browser when finished with our interactive

Prospective students who prefer to not transmit information we request
over the Internet may use our printed forms to provide it by mail,
fax or delivery in person.
