2012 Orientation Counselor Information
The Office of New Student Orientation recruits dedicated student leaders to provide incoming students with a positive experience by serving as Orientation Counselors. For additional information about the OC position, please read through this website.
Why Should You Apply to be an OC?
As an Orientation Counselor, you will have the opportunity to:
- Share all the great things the University has to offer with incoming students;
- Gain both leadership and professional experience;
- Receive a stipend of $2,200, housing and some meals during the employment period;
- Meet and work with administrators, faculty, staff, and students from across the University;
- Gain time management, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.

- Priority Application Deadline: Tuesday, October 18
- Final Application Deadline: Tuesday, November 1
- Individual Interviews: October 17 – November 7
- Group Interviews: November 11, 14, and 15
- Notification Letters Available: Friday, November 19 (pick up letter in 204 Park Shops)
Who are we looking for?
New Student Orientation is looking for a diverse group of students who:
- Are enrolled full-time as an undergraduate student;
- Maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA while employed;
- Love NC State;
- Have a positive attitude and lots of energy;
- Exhibit leadership potential;
- Are willing to step outside their comfort zone and try new experiences;
- Want to learn more about NC State and share the information with others;
- Have a great work ethic.
