Preparing for the Interviews
- Below are some tips for a successful interview:
- Before the interview look over this website and attend an OC Recruitment Information Session to learn more about the position for which you are interviewing
- When you arrive for your individual interview, please bring an item that represents your experience at NC State. This activity will help us to get to know your personality and learn how you would talk about your time at NC State to new students as an Orientation Counselor.
- Anticipate the questions you'll be asked in the interview and your answers to these questions
- Potential questions include:
- Why do you want to be an Orientation Counselor?
- What do you remember about your Orientation?
- What will you bring to the Orientation Counselor team?
- Why should we hire you?
- Tell us about your past work experiences.
- Tell us about leadership opportunities you have had.
- Double check the time and date of your interview, as well as the interview location (do you know where Park Shops is located?)
- At the interview: Plan to arrive a few minutes early - this way you'll have spare time if you get caught up on your way and you won't feel rushed
- Relax. This is an opportunity to show the interviewers what a great candidate you are!
- Be yourself
- Ask questions - if there are still things you're unsure about regarding the position, make sure to ask!
