Schedule At A Glance

New Student Orientation is a full-day program. Students should expect to arrive on campus no later than 8:20 a.m. and stay on campus until 5:00 p.m. in order to receive vital information on student services, online course registration, and their college and major.

8:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m
Orientation Check-in
2nd floor, Talley Student Center

Be sure to browse through the information folder you receive at Check-in and review the helpful handouts provided by various student groups, departments and offices on campus.


8:30 a.m. - 9:15 a.m.
University Welcome

Ballroom, 2nd floor, Talley Student Center

Students will hear vital information from a number of NC State administrators and offices.


9:15 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
Orientation Counselor Small Groups

Various Locations, Talley Student Center

You will be broken up into smaller groups each with an Orientation Counselor (student leader) where you can have your questions answered by a currently enrolled student, meet other incoming students, and plan the rest of your day at Spring Entry Orientation.


10:15 a.m. – 12:10 p.m.  
Break-out sessions

Various Locations, Talley Student Center

Choose from the following the Break-out sessions that most interest you. All will be offered during both times.
  • Getting Involved at NC State
  • University Career Center
  • Time and Stress Management
  • Undergraduate Tutorial Center and Academic Writing
  • Office of Academic Advising Services
  • University Dining

12:10 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Lunch and Optional Tours

Fountain Dining Hall & Ballroom, 2nd floor, Talley Student Center

Orientation Counselors will escort students to Fountain Dining Hall for lunch. After lunch, students can choose from optional tours such as campus tours, tours of Carmichael Gymnasium or D.H. Hill Library. You can also use this time to have your student ID card made at the Wolfpack One Card Office on the first floor of Talley Student Center.

2:15 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
College/Institute Meetings, Advising, Registration
Various Locations on Campus

College representatives will be available to provide information on academic policies and regulations, discuss departmental procedures, review course transfer policies, or provide academic advising and registration assistance. Take this opportunity to ask questions about your placement scores and class schedule.
