The Alumni Memorial Building was dedicated in May of 1959 to the memory of the more than 300 NCSU alumni who were killed in the service of their country during and since World War Two. The building contains plaques inscribed with the names of the University's war heros and includes a vault in which the military records of the late alumni are held.

Built in 1897, the Alumni building originally served as the campus infirmary. The history of the building has lead many to speculate that it is haunted. In 1918, 13 students died in the infirmary of the worldwide spanish influenza epidemic including Chancellor Riddick's daughter, who was serving as a nurse.

The building was remodeled in 1959 and today it houses NC State's Alumni Association.
