College of Engineering Advising and Course Registration
For transfer students in the College of Engineering, follow the instructions below to ensure a smooth advising and course registration process. A student's college may communicate with them prior to Transfer Orientation, so students should be sure to check the email they have on file with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions periodically for any additional information.
1. Should students contact an advisor in their college before attending Transfer Orientation?
Yes. Students should contact an academic advisor prior before attending Transfer Orientation.
After students pay their Advanced Enrollment Deposit (AED), students should wait until they are assigned an advisor within MyPack to seek advising. At that point, students should schedule an appointment with their assigned advisor (drop-ins are discouraged).
To find their advisor, students should log in to MyPack Portal, click the "For Students" tab and locate the "Academic Records" heading and click on the "My Advisor" link.
***If no advisor has been assigned within 10 business days of paying the AED, transfer students should call the office of Academic Affairs at 919.515.3263 to inquire about transfer advising. Transfer advising will not be available on the day of transfer orientation.
2. Should students register for courses before attending Transfer Orientation?
Yes. Students should register for courses before Transfer Orientation. An academic advisor will need to release the advising hold prior to students being able to register for courses.
3. Who should students contact in their college with advising and course registration questions?
Students should contact their assigned advisor within MyPack, if listed. Otherwise, advisors in the office of Academic Affairs (919.515.3263) are available for advising and registration questions.
