Trail Descriptions


PP-DA-3     South Lake Trail, 14 Miles
Skill Level: Beginner Difficulty: Easy Time Required: 3-8 Hours
Located in the Alligator National Wildlife Refuge, this trails follows the edges of this protected estuary where the canoeist can explore many small creeks and coves that make up this estuary. Several ospreys inhabit the area, where they are busy during the spring and summer raising their young. This trail allows the canoeist to quickly remove himself from any signs of civilization and be surrounded by this pristine environment. This trail follows the shoreline of South Lake, Hooker Gut, Northeast Prong, Deep Bay and Deer Creek.
