Trail Descriptions
The paddle trail from Shallotte Point to Ocean Isle Beach Access begins at Tripp's Fishing Center. Paddle along the western side of Shallotte River, turning around Bowen Point (Shallotte Point) then heading southwesterly along the shore of the Shallotte River. After passing the Shallotte Inlet, paddle to the east or south side of the Waterway and enter Shallotte Sound. Follow the Sound, re-enter the Waterway and at about the 3 mile point, cross to the other side of the Waterway. At approximately 3.8 miles enter Gause Landing Creek and follow the creek, avoiding the Intracoastal Waterway. At approximately 4.3 miles you will pass under NC 904. As you once again enter the Waterway, paddle across the Waterway and enter Eastern Channel. As you pass the 7 mile point, watch for the small channels between the islands on the north side of Eastern Channel, enter Still Creek and continue paddling towards the Waterway. As you enter the Waterway, paddle across the Waterway, continue southwesterly and the Ocean Isle Access Point will be located just ahead at the 8.7 mile point.
Note: As you paddle this trail be aware that large, fast moving boats use the Intracoastal Waterway.
