The Park Scholarship

The Park Scholarships program brings exceptional students to NC State University based on outstanding accomplishments and potential in scholarship, leadership, service, and character. The program develops and supports Park Scholars in these areas, preparing them for lifelong contributions to the campus, state, nation, and world. The scholarship includes tuition and fees, room and board, enrichment activities, and additional expenses.

Exploring the World

Park Scholars take advantage of incredible opportunities provided by NC State University to expand their knowledge of the world through international study and service. Scholars are eligible for enrichment awards that provide funding to foster the development of a global perspective.

Implementing Social Change

Public service is an integral component of the Park Scholarships experience. Scholars are involved in developing projects, such as the Krispy Kreme Challenge and Service Raleigh, where they directly address community needs and develop valuable leadership skills in the process.

The Park Experience

The Park Scholarships program attracts nearly 1,500 applicants annually from among the nation's best students. Why? In addition to covering the cost of attendance at NC State University, the Park Scholarships program invests extensively the development of each Park Scholar in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

Learning Through Experience

Park Scholars travel within North Carolina and to Washington, D.C. to critically examine state and national issues. Scholars participate in a community building retreat in the Blue Ridge Mountains during their first year, and conclude their Park experience in one of America's national parks.

Giving Back

Park alumni play a significant role in advancing the Park Scholarships program. Alumni serve through the Park Alumni Society, the Park Advisory Committee and the Regional Selection Committee; coordinate events to inform Park Scholars about their fields; provide financial support to fund initiatives such as study abroad scholarships; and act as mentors to Park Scholars.

Parks Scholarships

 

The Park Scholarships are named for the late Roy H. Park ’31, an NC State alumnus who created the charitable Park Foundation, dedicated to education, media, and the environment.

Since the inaugural class of 25 Park Scholars, the number of scholars on campus has grown to nearly 200. Approximately 45 scholarships are awarded each year to outstanding high school seniors for undergraduate study in any discipline at NC State.
