History & Purpose
With a generous grant from the Park Foundation of Ithaca, New York, the Park Scholarships program was established to provide a superb educational opportunity for exceptionally talented and well-prepared young men and women who merit the intellectual challenge of a distinguished faculty and a superior university. To date, thirteen classes of Park Scholars have graduated and have built a vibrant alumni network.
Upon arrival at NC State, Park Scholars are immediately introduced to professors who will challenge them to push the limits of scholarship, leadership, and service in their own lives and in the lives of others. The students commit themselves wholeheartedly to these pursuits and consequently are able to acquire prestigous internships and employment that are directly related to their professional development. The drive and determination Park Scholars possess yield tangible results, which can be seen in their achievements, leadership positions, and service activities. As a result, Park Scholars are making a palpable impact on NC State and in their communities.

Roy H. Park
The Park Scholarships program derives its namesake from an individual synonymous with achievement and success: Roy H. Park, who graduated from NC State University in 1931 and was a native of Dobson, N.C.
At NC State, Roy Park served as editor of the Technician, the school newspaper. His media interests culminated in his establishment of Park Communications Inc., which owned and operated newspapers and radio and television stations across the United States. Roy Park brought great honor to NC State through his remarkable achievements throughout a long life of service.
