Park Scholars are selected, in part, because of their leadership potential. During their four years at NC State, they learn about modern leadership theories and self-awareness as part of a leadership seminar, and they frequently undertake official roles within the university and local community, as well as on Park Scholarships project committees.

Tomorrow's Leaders
Warren Perry '08 speaks with NC Gov. Jim Hunt at the Emerging Issues Forum. The Park Scholarship provides many opportunities--such as the Emerging Issues Forum, which attracts many prestigious speakers--whereupon scholars can meet with influential leaders in the community and on the national stage.
Leadership Academy
Great leaders are self-aware and understand how to work effectively with other individuals and with groups. The Leadership Academy provides an intensive experience for juniors to gain insight about their individual leadership styles and how their style compares with others. Self-awareness, communication styles, and conflict management are skills that are emphasized not only in the Leadership Academy but also within the Park Scholarships program in general. In addition, Scholars will learn more about leadership in general and how to recognize constructive and destructive styles of leadership.
