Three awards for Professor Beichner
Robert Beichner was named the North
Carolina Professor of the Year by the Council
for Advancement and Support of Education and the Carnegie
Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. He
was also named United States Undergraduate Science Teacher
of the Year by the Society
for College Science Teachers and the National
Science Teachers Association.
Dr. Beichner recently received the 2011 McGraw Prize in Education, sometimes referred to as equivalent to the "Nobel Prize of Education." Here's a video about his award.
Professor Paesler joins the group
Former NCSU Physics Department Head Michael Paesler has joined the group. He is developing and investigating the effectiveness of take-home instructional labs.
Professor Beichner back from sabbatical
Robert Beichner spent the fall 2010 semester at Virginia Tech as an American Council on Education Fellow. During the spring he worked half-time at Western Carolina University.
Professors Ruth Chabay and Bruce Sherwood retire
The PERD group wishes Ruth Chabay and Bruce Sherwood a happy retirement in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Both Chabay and Sherwood retain emeritus status with the university. |
