FIRE AND SAFETY INSPECTIONS

Fire Protection is charged with conducting building fire & safety inspections throughout the campus to insure compliance with University, State, and Federal codes. During these inspections safe work and storage practices, fire extinguishers, emergency safety equipment, emergency exits, and the like are checked to ensure compliance.

Key Items Include

  • Proper use of Extension Cords and Multi-Plug Adapters
  • Placement of Fire Extinguishers
  • Storage in Egress Paths (stairwells, hallways, and exits)
  • Tampered with or Missing Fire Protection Equipment
  • Halogen Lamps
  • Cooking Appliances
  • Motorcycles and Mopeds Kept Indoors
  • Candles or Open Flame Items in Room
  • Combustible Storage
  • Holiday Lights
  • Flammable Liquid / Hazardous Materials Storage
  • Use of Space Heaters
  • Wall / Ceiling / Floor Penetrations
  • Fireworks in Rooms
